There are three routes to get a QA Engineer on your team, and they trade off speed against control.
Employer of Record (EOR). An EOR is already registered as an employer in Pakistan, so they hire the person on your behalf, run local payroll and statutory withholding, and invoice you a monthly fee on top of the wage. Published EOR pricing for a Pakistan hire runs about $599–$699 per month per employee. This is the fastest route to a compliant hire with no local entity of your own, and it is where most first-time buyers start. See the hiring hub for how the routes compare.
Contractor. You engage the person directly as an independent contractor and pay them yourself, with no local entity and no EOR fee. It is the cheapest route on paper, but the compliance and misclassification risk sits with you, and you own the relationship end to end: onboarding, tooling, payment rails, everything an employer normally handles. Read more on the hiring hub before choosing this route.
Own entity. You register a legal entity in Pakistan and employ people directly. This is the highest-control, highest-commitment route: it makes sense once headcount is large enough to justify the setup and ongoing compliance cost, not for a first hire. Details on what that setup involves are on the hiring hub.
Posted QA Engineer openings in our data cluster in 5 cities, led by Lahore with 2 postings, followed by Islamabad, Karachi, Sialkot, Other. That spread reflects where employers are actually posting for this role, not a claim about where the best candidates live: a Karachi-heavy sample means Karachi-heavy hiring activity, nothing more.
The band at the top of this page is the posted wage: what the employer told the job board they would pay. It is not what you pay to get the role filled and running. On top of the wage, your engagement layer typically adds recruiting (finding and screening candidates), payroll administration, compliance, and ongoing management, each a real cost whether you pay a vendor for it or absorb it yourself.
If you hire through local payroll or an entity, Pakistan's employer-side statutory categories include EOBI (the national old-age benefits scheme), provincial social security contributions, and gratuity accrual, all paid by the employer on top of wages. We model this add as a disclosed band rather than a single precise rate, stated in full on the methodology page.
| THEY EARN | YOUR COST TO EMPLOY | TYPICAL AGENCY QUOTE |
|---|---|---|
| $360 (₨100,000)–$419 (₨116,428) | $403–$495 | $726–$1,286 |
Modeled: your cost to employ is the wage plus a disclosed statutory-adds band. Hiring through an EOR instead of a contractor or your own entity adds a flat $599-$699/mo per person on top. The typical agency quote applies a disclosed markup band on top of the cost to employ. Quoted outside this band? Ask us why.
